I have given you graph paper so that you can draw your scatter graph accurately. Use sharp pencils, plot with small x's, show readings by drawing dotted lines etc.... When completed, cut out and stick you graph in your book.
Please remember to hand in you corrected surd test on (or before) Monday 9th June. You may use another colour and write on the paper (or attach extra paper to the back)
Half Term
You will have a short test on......
irrational numbers and surds on the first day back.
make sure you have finished all the MyMaths on your portal
- do lots more practice questions (use all the exercises you have done to help)
- make sure you can change recurring decimals to fractions and understand what an irrational number is. I have added a MyMaths to your portal which will help your revision.

Work to be completed during the Christmas Holiday
You have been given a booklet that covers much of the work we have done since September. Take your time, look up everything you have forgotten, use all the resources available to you (MyMaths, bitesize, exercise books etc.). Try every question - no gaps. DO NOT LEAVE UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!!
Bring to the first maths lesson of 2014.
Friday 6th December
Revise for test on Monday - see test page for details and revision advice
Tuesday 3rd December
Straight Line graph Murder Mystery - do this on the sheet. You can stick it in when you get your book back.
Due Friday (extra time because of parents evening).
WARNING!! Test next Monday - details on Test Page
Friday 29th November
There are two MyMaths lessons and worksheets on your portal due for Monday (some of you have done the first one already!). Make sure you get a green light - but 100% preferred. I have put this work up early so those of you who are bit busy at the moment have plenty of time.
Tuesday 26th November
Page 53 Task M6.12 Q1,2,3
Q1 - remember parallel lines have the same GRADIENT
Q2 - should be easy!
Q3 - Make sure you have each equation into the form y = mx + c BEFORE you write down the gradient and intercept. Full working to be shown when rearranging.
Friday 22nd November
See if you can finish the sheet (40 mins work expected). If you get stuck look at the MyMaths lesson - it is on you portal. If you finish and have enough time do the MyMaths lesson too!
Molly, Neel - the circle theorems are also on your portal.
Tuesday 19th November
The following must be completed with great care - SHARP pencils etc. You may use tracing paper and cm squared paper if you wish - the paper must be stuck in your book. If you work directly in your book use 'double spacing' for your axes.
Page 71 M9.6 Q6, Page 72 E9.2 Q1 (no drawing required), Q3.
Hand in tomorrow.
Friday 15th November
None set - if you raised enough for children in need to buy this privilege!
Tuesday 12th November
Straight Line graphs worksheet. Complete Questions 1 to 4.
Make sure you use a sharp pencil to draw your axes in Q1 and Q3 and that you answer all questions carefully. Use 'm = ....' for gradient and 'c = ....' for intercept. Do not write on the sheet!
Friday 8th November
SHARPEN YOUR PENCIL! then......
1) Complete the two sheets I have given you (translations and reflections)
Stick them in your book.
2) Do Page 68 M9.4 Q1 You need to write down the equation of each mirror line (you do not need to copy the diagram).
Tuesday 5th Movember (remember remember!)
Test Review (2) - complete the sheet setting out your working carefully - use your corrected test to help.
HALF TERM WORK
Revise for your test on the first day back - see revision/test page
Tuesday 22nd October
Don't forget you have a test on the first day back - see revision/test page
1) Revisit your MyMaths from last week - if you do not have a green light you must try it again now.
2) Page 19 E3.2 Q 1 to 4
Page 21 E 3.3 Q 1 to 4
Page 22 E 3.4 Q 1 to 4
For once you can just give me the answers only!!!! ( and no need to draw them either - I'm too kind)
Friday 18th October
MyMaths circle theorems (on your portal).
It is the lesson that is most important!! You will be able to revise the theorems you know and learn about some new ones - ready for Monday. Try the worksheet - but don't worry if you find it difficult (you can try again next week).
also......
CHECK OUT TEST PAGE!!
Tuesday 15th October
Page 18 Task E3.1
Q 1 to 8 - you do not need to draw these (it would take too long!) but you must write down your answer and state the theorems you used. If you needed to do a calculation show this too.
Q9 - use a pair of compasses and draw this diagram neatly. Now find the missing angles, stating your reasons and showing any working.
Friday 11th October
Your task is to revise angles between parallel lines. You must be able to identify alternate, corresponding and interior angles (MyMaths calls these 'supplementary' angles). MyMaths is a good place to revise these or use 'bitesize' or last year's exercise book or.........
Then
1) Draw THREE separate, clear diagrams showing me each type of angle.
2) Do Task M3.2 Page 15 Q 1 to 7. In each case copy the diagram neatly (use PENCIL and ruler) and find the missing angles, stating your reasons.
Tuesday 8th October
Page 30 E4.3 Q 3 to 8 'harder' quadratics - choose the method you like best
Page 132 - 133 E16.1 Q2 a, b, c, h Q3 e, f - simplify algebraic fractions
Page 74 M10.1 Q1 all parts - this is revision of 'measures'.
Due Wednesday.
Friday 4th October
Today we learned to factorise by grouping. I'd like you to have another go at the other (harder) method by working CAREFULLY through the MyMaths lesson on your portal - and then doing the worksheet.
(If you need to you can always use the grouping method instead!)
Due Monday
Tuesday 1st October
Page 28 Task M4.7 (not M4.6!!) Q 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 - these are all 'simple quadratics'
Page 29 Task E4.1 13, 15, 17, 19, 21 - these require a common factor to be removed first and then factorise further.
Don't forget to check you answers by multiplying them back out again (in your head).
Friday 27th September
Page 27 M4.5 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21 (odd numbers)
Page 28 M4.6 1, 3, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17 (left hand column)
Due Monday
Friday 20th September and Tuesday 24th September
You have a TEST on Wednesday 25th September - details on your Revision and Test Page
REVISE for your test.
As part of your revision do the MyMaths on your portal (HCF and LCM). Make sure you go through the lessons BEFORE doing the online worksheets. You may like to repeat the two indices lessons too.
Tuesday 17th September
Page 9 Ex M2.6 Q1, 5, 7
Page 10 Ex E2.1 Q 1 to 5 and 7
Due tomorrow
Friday 13th September (lucky for some!)
I have set you two MyMaths lessons and online worksheets to do - on your portal.
Indices 1: This follows on from this week's work. Do the lesson and then the worksheet. I expect a green light (and preferable 100%)
Indices 2: This is difficult (A/A*) and we have not done it before! I want you to go through the lesson very carefully and then try the online homework - but don't worry if you get stuck. We will be looking at this in the lessons next week.
Tuesday 10th September
Page 32 M5.2 Q1, 2, 3 a c (only), 4, 5, 6, 7, 10.
Please remember title, date etc and do your B.N.T's!
Friday 6th September
1) Stick your Number Checkup Sheets in the back of you book
2) Page 1 Task M1.2 (Revision of Fractions)
Complete Q 1 to 4 showing careful non-calculator method
Remember:
- put a title and date (underlined)
- draw a margin if it helps you to achieve good presentation
- Write out the calculation you are doing
Hand in on Monday.
